We left the British empire because we had no representation, we were being taxed heavily, and we were not being properly defended, or allowed to defend ourselves with organized militias, etc

I really dun care too much, I just don't like it when people spread false details
I mean it's not a blatant lie, just an extreme oversimplification. And anyways today is just the day a bunch of privileged white folk said "ye lez leave" publicly (for the reasons you stated above), not necessarily the day they achieved it.
This is true. There were many days we could have celebrated "Independance Day" and a few of those people were half Native American
And they wore this proudly, I assume, embracing their heritage and being somewhat fond of the Amerindians?
Idk, never focused much on racial tensions of that time period
"...endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.” From the List of Grievances. Sure, the people who wrote that felt half Native American.

(I'm not mad or anything btw, I just enjoy a good debate)
Yeah I know, I just don't find it much of a debate when I don't know anything about it
" I really dun care too much"
but also
"We left the British empire because we had no representation, we were being taxed heavily, and we were not being properly defended, or allowed to defend ourselves with organized militias, etc"
