It tastes awful because it has 3 main components: hydrochloric acid, potassium chloride and sodium chloride. None of these three things taste particularly nice.

Really, it's the mix of the 3 chemicals that makes it taste awful. And the fact that the concentration of the sodium chloride is probably higher than when you put it on food.
yes, awesome to have a breakdown of the acids in “gastric acid” (not like anyone is going describe it like that to a doctor)! But, yes. ... ugh... yuck! So, why didn’t Xaiir call it acid reflux? lol
