It's true of what you say, but nowadays it's not better to use SVG for Logos on websites?

The website logo can be a small png, vectors become useful when you want to print or make VERY LARGE displays using that logo. If someone provides you with a converted vector, the edges and gradients are all messed up hence making the large image displays / prints look like lower quality.
A good example of a scalable vector can be seen on duskcombatforce.com - You can see no quality loss at all in the small logo / about us background logo. If we wanted jerseys or even a mural, the quality would remain the same.
I agree with you. It is true how little I have in the world of web development (using my knowledge that I do not have xD) It is much better to use PNG, although many say that the future is SVG so as not to lose quality, form or anything.
SVG is definitely used TODAY, I am just more used to png as the norm (svg is for hot shots)
