If they're legally in the wrong, isn't there a citizens advice bureau type thing in the US? Companies never seem to realise that their employees are their biggest asset >_<
We're gonna try to get in contact with the person that does paychecks to see if it can be fixed that way, if not we're going to go up the line until it either gets solved or we lose (which I'd be mad with).

Sounds like a 'them' issue. Shouldn't it be automatically transfered (or added on to the monthly due pay, or whenever the extra pay is given) after the bereavement is checked?
As long as you can prove that Llen didn't get the pay I don't see how they can say no.
