We were listening to one of the adjudicators that were judging us during the competition. On one song he kept saying
"There was a timpani solo at this measure. They missed it."
He failed to notice that half of the trumpets and flutes moved to cover percussion parts. At the timpani solos, everyone was playing their own part.
He basically said that he expected someone to get up while playing their instrument and play the timpani part at the same time.
