WoW subscription peak was at 12 mil in 2010, down to 10 mil in 2014 and now to 1.7 mil in 2018.

Granted, take this with a pinch of salt but it does seem to be aligned with community trends. The general feeling in my gaming circle is that Blizzard dropped the ball with BfA and that content decreased both in quality and in quantity.

Funny enough the WoW's official forums remind me awfully of SW:TOR forums before the game went into tailspin.

"So @Blizzard_Ent launched a new API https://develop.battle.net/ recently and it was leaking player subscription end dates. You could iterate over all players and calculate active subs. At the start of #BfA we had 3.2m subs, now at 1.7m of which ~25% are secondary #BFA purchases"

'Last Jedi' hate tweets were 'weaponized' by Russia, says study

https://mashable.com/article/the-last-jedi-rian-johnson-russia...

The Brexit vote. The 2016 U.S. presidential election. And now ... the online reaction to The Last Jedi. What do all these expressions of opinion have in common? All have been credibly accused after the fact of being skewed by Russian operatives.

I love that word: weaponize. It was recently brought to my attention that a guild's sexy party must be kept hush-hush lest I find out and "weaponize" it against them... 'cause they totally are "not an ERP guild." *cue me just shaking my head and laughing* But "weaponize" is now my new favorite word!

Yes, it's a great cover, just accuse your opponent of "weaponizing" regardless of circumstances.Reminds me of communism and "enemy of the people" label.
Yep. Disheartening to see it's back in vogue among governments... but not surprising seeing how eagerly petty people will latch on to it for their own ridiculous purposes.
Remember, it's not me, it's you. Honest. Just because I'm vindictive and have a chip on my shoulder doesn't mean I'm not impartial!

I'll give you Porgs.
Porgs are fun but plush toys won't make a bad movie great no matter how much CGI you throw at them. Merch is just merch, no matter how cute. Just not something that can rescue a horrible plot.

Total War: ROME II

As Pergamon I marched into Asia Minor with nice properly balanced and seasoned army. 2 melee cavalry, 2 missile cavalry, 4 slingers, 5 levy pikemen, 4 hoplites, 2 ballista.

And then I encountered the pestilent vermin that is Seleucid Empire with its neverending swarms of skirmishers and light cavalry.

Let's just say that I now fully understand the problem Hellenistic generals had in manoeuvering phalanx formations against mobile enemy.

I could hold western edge of Asia Minor with its rough terrain well enough but if i sallied forth I got clobbered. After getting my behind handed to me by Seleucids a number of times I switched to their perennial enemy, the Ptolemaic Egypt.

Let's just say that Seleucid horse archers and skirmishers really don't like being trampled over by African war elephants. Best of all, if left with enough room the elephant unit that goes on a rampage (you lose control over it) just tramples more of the swarming enemies.

When US gets a cold Europe starts sniffling. The aftermath of 9/11 still has a global impact.
I think we all have the right to question and even critique other governments. When another country treats its own people badly we Yanks are the first to decry it. After all ,everyone is entitled to OUR opinion! LOL No government since the dawn of time has clean hands. And we absolutely SHOULD be talking about it. 9/11 changed the face of the world and brought us the surveillance state. It was a tragedy for all those who died and their families and loved ones, as well as for our country. It then became a tragedy for the entire world as it has been used as an excuse to abuse the privacy and liberty of citizens by their governments the world over.

The one thing that strikes me most about 9/11 though all these years later is this: The literally impossible way the buildings neatly collapsed into their own footprints exactly as happens in a planned demolition. A phenomena that has occurred exactly once in all of history, on 9/11.

Never played it but it came up in a discussion of defunct games just the other day. I'd feel better about it if I thought other, better, studios might arise out of all this closings but, cynic that I am, I don't see it.

So, new WoW expansion, the Horde reputation mounts are: pterodactyl, hyena and a demon spider. Alliance gets a horse, horse and another horse.

Talk about cheap. When you think it can't get worse than TOR the gaming industry finds a way to surprise you.

I actually ditched WoW, the expansion prepatch was so horribly badly written and the content was so brain-dead I couldn't justify paying a sub for it.

And when they release sorcery? :p
