My process for giving gifts this year for high-school friends was just to try and find something they will complain about or something that could compliment a gift that they've been bragging about how they're "probs gonna get it from their parents". Two examples were buying a battery pack for a friend who complains about their battery dying in school a lot (iphone problems amiright) and an amiibo for someone who is expecting Super Mario Odyssey (which they did get!). I don't know how close you are with the middle-schoolers mentioned but that's a pretty sound process. Otherwise something simple like a phone accessory (battery pack, popsocket, etc.) is a pretty safe gift and it arrives fast if you have prime on Amazon.

There's some weird key combo on my computer that causes minecraft to quit instantly and I only seem to trigger it after I accidentally hit the escape key and then try to hit escape again (to escape out of the 'disconnect' prompt), I tend to only do this during combat, typically death match, the more frantic the more likely it is to just abort MC. Apologies to my teammate for suddenly disconnecting during death match, that was a fitting end to a day of mostly tragic UHCs...
very likely, it was probably some combination of ctrl-F1-F2-F3-F4-esc, and since I am on a mac it might have switched the ctrl key command to an alt key command
