Have you actually watched the show? & if you have, what is your reasoning for it "glorifying suicide." Because the entire purpose of the show was to bring awareness to suicide, and show that it is a real problem. To bring awareness to rape, bullying, assault, etc. To bring awareness to the fact that little actions can affect anyone negatively, and that you should always try to be kind to people for that reason. In no way does it shout or encourage suicide. If anything, all these posts people are making are because they've realized suicide is a problem and they are trying to help.

The reason I am against this show is in this show and in society in general there's a problem in the way we deal with people, especially high school students, who commit suicide. We say "oh this student killed herself because she was being bullied etc" and this is almost normalizing suicide as if it is a natural result of bullying. This may not make sense but it's not their fault she decided to kill herself. Sure their bullying her but she should doing something much more productive with what she was feeling (going to therapy is just one example). The message of this show appears to be "if you're being bullied and nobody listens to what you want to say, take the easy road and kill your self and those fools will finally listen to what you have to say!" From what I've heard there's this feeling that the girl was "brave" for recording these tapes, getting these people to finally admit their guilt. She's not brave...she's dead!

Ok, but the show is doing the complete opposite of what you're saying. Hannah tried to reach help multiple times, with her friends and even with her school counselor at the end, before she committed suicide. She also tried to talk to her parents and go through other routes than suicide. She felt completely hopeless at the end, and of course suicide is never the answer, but that is what unfortunately happened.

The tapes purpose was not to blame anyone, it was to show the audience how the littlest of actions can affect someone negatively, and to help show the signs of someone in need.

In no way does this show say "hey, go kill yourself instead of finding help." It does NOT encourage suicide whatsoever, its purpose is to bring awareness to the signs of suicide and bring awareness to your own actions.

For example, did you notice the signs of Alex going to kill himself throughout the show? While we were watching Hannah Alex was showing similar signs to Hannah. But you didn't notice that because you were busy looking at what Hannah was doing. The signs were there. The show is trying to bring awareness to how bullying, small actions, and big actions can affect someone a lot!

I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense, I'm pretty tired.
