Soo for those of you guys who wanted to know how many days till I can play mineplex again...
Whee something about mineplex's newsletter!!!
(just saying it for the likes)
Somehow I got GWEN ban for 5 days... I have no clue why.
So I finally got motivated to make a long champions post....
I agree and disagree with you, and here is why.(Maybe because I am partially a Mage main). Mage is, as said by Lolboatz, a "discount of any other kit". I think, in my opinion and 3+ years of playing champions, very true. What most people use mage for is trolling, but that's because most champions people are not really that serious into learning all the small stuff, and will rather learn the easier, simpler ways of doing something. For example, let's say you wanted a speedy high-damage class. Most people will use assassin, but you can also use Immolate, which is basically the same thing, except for mana cost. Assassin has high speed and high damage, but trades it for the health. Mage immolate is the same, where it has high damage (strength 1), speed (speed 1), and fire, which is a lot better damage, because it does 0.5 damage all the time unless you got resistance, and trades it for a +1 damage. The only problem is Mana, but mana managing is another easy thing to do. Think about it, after a fight, you can toggle it off, making your mana regen easily.
Another example is Hold Position for Knight. So you want a defensive ability that can give resistance? You can use Hold position. Or you can use Void, which is a faster, cheaper ability. Think about it. Mage’s Void is like Hold position (like almost exactly the same) except that Void is a toggle ability, meaning that between fights, you can toggle it off, while for the Knight class, you are stuck with it for a certain amount of time. (bummer) It also has a recharge time, unlike void, so if you get attacked in the middle, you got no helpful resistance. While Void runs on Mana, it is pretty easy to control your mana, so it’s pretty much infinite.
More discount abilities, include leap. Want a movement class? You can use leap, which is pretty much a jumping ability, and recharges in 6 seconds. Or you can use Rupture, which is basically the same amount of movement as leap, but no recharge. This means you can infinitely use rupture and always move away. You can also use it as an offensive/defensive weapon, by knocking enemy’s away or tossing them from far away. The only problem is for moving you need break fall 3, but pretty much all assassin's use break fall, so it’s fine.
Say a ranger is shooting at you. You have a few options. 1) Run away, 2) Try dodge the arrows, 3) shoot back, or 4) try kill them. WIth mage, you can use ability’s like fissure or ice prison, which can be used as a wall, and static laser to shoot back at them. While static laser is kinda useless, it is pretty good at doing quick knockback at other people, resulting in an easy combo with immolate, which counters your “static laser and immolate has bad synergy”
Another kit that I use as mage, is something you don’t really think about but is very good at killing people. It is fissure, inferno and void. You hit the enemy with fissure, which creates a wall and gives them slowness so they cannot run away. Their choice is to run around the wall, or they can go and 1v1 you, and most people will 1v1 you. Since they are slow, you can use inferno to light them on fire, making them lose health. Then when they reach you, they will already be a bit lowered, and you use void to finish them off while in your resistance. They can try run away because void makes you slower, but they also have slowness, and you can always toggle off void like I said above. If they choose to run, your fissure allready created a wall like thing for them so it is slower, while for you, you can just run up the wall and catch up to them because they have slowness. If they try to shoot you with arrows, you can always go to the other side of the wall and be safe.
Movement is also another big thing. I know in your thread, you said that mage is good at movement, but thats putting in in general. Say you wanted to capture a point on the other side of the bridge. You can either parkour there(lame), or you can use Arctic Armor to get there, which is a lot quicker. Wait! Someone is waiting for you on the other side, but you are low on health! What can you do? Well you can arctic back, cancel your arctic armor so it shrinks, and the enemy falls into the water. Then you can toggle arctic armor back, and drown the enemy in the ice or the water! Not only is the ability’s movement, it can all be used in different ways, which is something I like.
Say you are fighting a hacker, which is common on mineplex. What most people will do is run away and peg them with arrows. Good, but the hacker can use speed. What you can do as a mage, is trap them in Ice prison, stand over the prison, and then wait for your ice prison to recharge so you can shoot another ice prison on the side and suffocate them. Mage creates a lot of different ways of killing people, instead of the generic “1v1 me bro” situations which heavily rely on melee or ranged pvp.
What most people will want for Mage, is an healing ability. Life bonds is great, but really needs to be reworked so it can actually be viable. I mean right now, the only use for life bonds is in clans, where you got an afk person in your base with life bonds, and if you fight people and get low, you run to the side of the base where the AFKer is on the other side, and get free healing. My idea of a life bonds rework is that there is a range of health (say 5-7 hearts) which will give you regen 1, (8-9 hearts) will give regen 2, and 10 hearts give regen 3. This would be much much more viable in the game, and really, damaging someone until they have 5 hearts is pretty easy to do.
tbh
i dont know who you are
