Most science is quite useless.
16
God you sound like a teenager lol. Can not disagree more. There are certain things you really do need to know. Whether something "comes" up again or not it's still important for you to know. Science is literally everything. It is 100% necessary to learn most things that you're taught in Highschool. To be an adult you have to be able to at least somewhat understand the world around you. Things you are taught might be useless now but you never know when you might need them down the line.

i am in my teens so i should. i dont think knowledge is all that great. we acquired it in a harmful way. civilization has caused nothing but misery for every species on earth. it can definitely help you understand things, im with you on that. but that very often leads to disastrous results. also most scientific work doesnt even contribute to any useful applications. most of it is academics fucking around cuz they wanna learn shit. it's not useful tho.
Science is literally everything.
This is what teenagers think science is
I agree with those above and would say that this is a highly ignorant statement. You might argue that anything you learn in science will never come up your life after school. However, everything around you is science and it comes up in your everyday life without you even realising it.

Your body? Biology.
Your phone? Chemistry and (a bit of) physics.
Your laptop? Chemistry and (a bit of) physics.
Your house? Physics.
Your hygiene products? Chemistry and biology.
Your family car? Physics and chemistry.
Your food? Biology and (sometimes) chemistry.
Ever used a microwave to heat said food? Physics.
What about the fridge to keep it safe to eat? Chemistry and physics.
Ever plugged electrical appliances into sockets? Physics.
Ever used a pen to write? Chemistry.
Ever travelled on a plane? Physics.

We have only gotten to where we are in the world with the usage and application of science. If your predecessors hadn't used their scientific ideas to change the world, the world we have now simply wouldn't exist.

If I took the "[useless] science" away from you tomorrow, I'd like to see how you would live your life. I can only say "good luck; you'd need it."

THIS. And don't get me started on flint knapping, woodworking, basic fire-based cooking, safe food identification, etc.
of course i wouldnt be able to, and i would never be delusional enough ot think i would. it doesnt mean it was a good idea to create science. but the point i was making here was that most work in science doesn't contribute to any of this.
Give me an example?

The Art of Procrastination

http://blog.coffitivity.com/post/148844633968/the-art-of-procr...

I'm the king of procrastination. Seriously, I'm the worst. I somehow manage to spend 100x more energy not doing something than a fraction of the same energy starting said thing. It makes no sense, but I have an incredible knack for talking myself out of g

r u a Jung fan?

A lot of his stuff makes sense, I don't know that I'd say a fan, though. :)

i am so lazy and i have given up
21
I practice what I call Advanced Laziness. There are things I do even if I don't want to because I know that the consequences of *not* doing them are going to be even *more* work. Like cleaning a dish with egg yolk on it right away while it's soft and easy to clean, instead of later when it's dried on and takes a huge amount of scrubbing.
It's okay to be lazy. :)

thats a good idea. but when ur like me and youd rather procrastinate, you say "ah ill do more work later to take time off now" and let that egg stick like a wheelchair to an MRI
idk about the whole wheelchair thing but what u said regarding procrastination is rly relatable
its the scenario where the disabled person is wheeled to far into the MRI room by the idiot nurse and the metral thing flies towards the MRI in 0.1 sec and sticks to it impossibly hard
I can relate, just because of gender does not me I remote like to do and house work, laundry, etc you have mentioned. It explains why you have not posted in awhile ...good to see you back! I have been told to prioritize what I need to do. Either you work your way down the list or you put “x” amount of time a day into each doing smaller amount for say 20 minute until accomplished. You will still see feel some accomplishment vs getting depressed and doing nothing. Somethings also, just can wait! But nice seeing you back !

hm/ u make a good point. naybe i will do that! i did go to office hours for 3h today to get homework help which was good. fuckin impossible logic problems. well, not so impossible i learned. but here i am. now to d other shit
My sympathies!
Mechanic Rex How is things going getting caught up? I know it can be a struggle when you just are motivated or in the mood, but just one step forward is so mischievous better than 2 steps back. Just remember to keep moving forward and when you cant step to the side for the break vs taking a step back in the wrong direction.
Thank you. As a matter of fact I went to office hours for logic class and for linguistics already this week and I managed to do all the homework in both classes and I think I did it wrong. And I'm getting ahead on my astronomy homework. So I'm learning things that I need to know for my finals next week and classes are going rather well so actually I feel pretty good now. I was very productive yesterday. Thanks for asking !

these guys on Venice Beach each gave me their albums and theyre like "ei mon chek out mi new reggae CD" and im like "cool, reggae's cool"

i bring it home and these guys are making flat-out rap. why would you advertise it as reggae and give it to people who like reggae if that's not what you're making?

I've done it. Really strains your rotator cuff. Now I prefer a backpack.

ive done backpack and satchel and tote bag and my least fav is backpack. it feels stupid.
Might "feel" stupid, but your body will thank you over the years.
fuck.
youre probably right. fuck my ass
Ah, no thanks!
i feel like backpacks are the reason i have a bad posture
Depends on how you wear them, how you fit them, what their quality is, etc. Regardless, they are way better than just dangling stuff off one arm, as it's a much more balanced load.
HeavyBox your posture isnt terrible. but u can always work on sitting uo when u sit. i hate backpacks too thoough
