Official Statement Regarding Demotion from the Mineplex Staff Team
As of writing this post, my time on the Mineplex Staff Team has come to a close. I have officially been demoted from my position.
While I will not be disclosing the exact message from Mod Coord, I will briefly explain what happened.
I have been demoted for comments made in regards to a certain religion, which were, yes, posted on the Nasclub forums. According to the message, previously I had been warned for a post on the Mineplex forums, however, this one was not related to religion. The Mineplex had to do with certain types of players, although I don't remember exactly the context of the message.
All in all, this was due to my breach of the Staff Policy. I want to make you all aware that my moderation on Nasclub does not appear to be an effect on the demotion, and that I was not demoted simply for partaking in Nasclub discussion. It also had nothing to do with my criticism of Mineplex, as I did it in a way that aligned with the Staff Policy and showed I had the desire to improve the network. For all you who say if you disagree with something on Mineplex and get demoted simply for your opinion, that's not true. You have my first-hand approval of that. However, it was the specific comments that I made on Nasclub about religion that were prohibited within the Staff Policy on Mineplex.
Those are the only facts about the demotion, and anything past this point is my reaction and opinion on the situation.
First of all, I will answer the critical question: Was this demotion warranted? The short answer is Yes. The Staff Policy clearly states professionalism anywhere I am recognizable, even off the Mineplex website. I did indeed break a rule that I was aware of the moment I became a Trainee. Therefore, based on Mineplex's own guidelines and rules, the ban was indeed warranted.
I think the problem here isn't Mineplex or their policies. I think I'm just not right for the team. I'm a very opinionated person, and have done almost no censorship on my opinions since Day 1. Not only do these opinions include Mineplex things, but also politics and the real world. I had a feeling that this would come into conflict on the team, and it was only a matter of time before I said something that would cross the line. Recently, I was forgetting things which lead to me being a bit more lenient with what I was saying. I'm not right for the staff team since I just don't like the younger audience as much anymore. I prefer the more honest discussion of Nasclub, hence why I have been posting little to none on the Mineplex forums since my demotion from Forum Moderation.
Mineplex is a great server that has some great people working on it. It's built a great community, although a bit young, has some great members working together to make Mineplex a great place to play Mineplex minigames. However, it's just not the right place for me to be a staff member. In short, as of now, I will not be rejoining the staff team.
Not only do I not feel right being on the team, I also haven't been as dedicated recently and school has been taking up more and more of my time, leaving little free time. I often felt I was forcing myself to do Mineplex moderation, and I was already considering demotion. However, I didn't want to resign yet because I was starting to enjoy doing reports and playing more in-game. But, it probably wasn't really enough from my own perspective.
I thank everyone I have worked with over the past few months, including UntoldFury, Pastaeater, GarrettTheFaux, FriMat98, Wanderer, my Eggcellent Batch mates, and everyone else who's helped me to grow and enjoy my time on the team. I thank you for everything, because you guys really make this server run smoothly. I wish you the best of luck on whatever goals you may have. I'll never forget the experience thanks to you.
I'm asking everyone, each of you reading this post, to not flame or turn to hating Mineplex for this demotion. As I said, based on their guidelines, it was justified, and I agreed to them on my acceptance onto the team. I'm not turning to hate Mineplex, and I ask you all to not start riots, harass the staff team, or anything like that. It's not deserved, nor would it be worth your time, even if I thought it was deserved. I personally will still play on Mineplex, but certainly more as a casual player. I haven't decided exactly how things will change for me yet, but I'll keep you all updated.
I thank you for reading this and supporting me, and I ask that you'll continue to support me in the coming days, weeks, and months. I will still be on Enjin; I'm not going anywhere. If you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them. If anyone wants to know why I was demoted, please link them here to this statement.
Thank you.
