So, a little tech problem here:

My computer has 2 GPUs: Intel integrated and NVIDIA (default). I have Minecraft on my taskbar, and if I open the game through that icon it loads with the integrated graphics, even though I have the NVIDIA card set to default. In fact, the only way I can actually open the game with the NVIDIA card is if I go to the icon on the desktop, right-click, and select "Run with graphics processor -> High-performance NVIDIA processor (default)"

How do I fix this so that it always runs with NVIDIA even when I open it from the taskbar?

I think there's a way you can modify the shortcut (something in the arguments/comments) where you can point the shortcut to use a certain GPU.

Although there's always the possibility of disabling the Intel GPU so the NVIDIA is the only one remaining, I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

well ik u can change the setting under bios to use the dedicated chip and only use the intergated if the dedi fails thats what i have setup i did have the same issue but now its allways using the dedi card for me aswell

We solved it by going to the NVIDIA Control Panel and setting javaw.exe to use the NVIDIA GPU
