You know...I remember there being a thread a while back on the idea of Pre-Built castles for the dwarfs. You are right, the castles look strange, and can also be poorly defended.

Pre-Built castles would be a good idea, but too OP unless they'd have to be purchased. What Im thinking is that if you spent 100 points or something it would make the castle that round pre-built, with stairs and archer towers. Also, there could be a thing where when you buy a rank, you also get 1 Auto Castle Device as a perk, which could only be used once until you buy a second rank (Kinda pointless, but there are many DvZ addicts out there ). This would be fun and not only attract more people to the server, but would boost server donation funds.

Absolutely. Here's my honest explanation:
Bowser already used the DvZ "cyl" function for the roof bits (on a whim, apparently; I was there for when he said "hmm, what if I did this?" and then 5-10 minutes later he put it into the server), so I decided to use it for the walls as well by recoding it a bit to take a direction input. Anything else would be inconsistent and would therefore require that I rewrite Bower's code. The plus isn't really a plus; it's a very small circle.
A nice side effect of this is that if you place near the top, it makes nice little battlements. I'll probably be cleaning it up a bit in the next release so that horizontal crenellation doesn't happen on the edges, as DJM's already bugged me about this.
If it registers two right click events, it'll treat it as if you right clicked once, causing the extra blocks, then again, causing another block to go above it, even if you right clicked twice before you received the packet for the extra blocks being placed. This can also happen if someone else placed in the area first, or if you hold down the right click for a bit. Basically, it's an artifact of the Minecraft netcode and there's nothing much we can do about it if you still want to connect via Minecraft.
Unfortunately, we can't psychically control the builders. Making the fort smaller for less people might help, though, so people won't feel so panicked and therefore build slower.

Pre-built castles will never happen. It goes against what DvZ is supposed to be. DvZ with pre-built forts is basically glorified KitPvP, as can be demonstrated on other, stupider DvZ servers.
