I have 2 of these on my island. They work in a pinch and are actually quite simple to build

what you can build it a good cacti farm with fences the grow and the fence knocks them down

make a big enderman farm with spawner and all. Then keep doing the pearlcollector challenge to get gold. endy farm/gold farm

This does help to get you rich; a clear example is _Andy93.

Just generally building lots of automated farms can help (the more automated stuff, the better. It makes skyblock a whole lot easier).

What I have done is decorated my island a lot (if you see it one day, it's pretty wild up top XD) to make it more interesting.

When building things in general, try to avoid using blocks like cobblestone or stone, and use blocks such as nether brick, which give a nicer look and give nice island levels. Trust me, when I wanted to make my island better, it took me weeks to rid of the cobblestone and to replace it. It's best to start off with blocks like stonebricks, as they are easier to obtain. Starting off with high-level builds is always a good way to go, to prevent that frustration of removing and improving it all in the future
