Thought I'd share because I know I didn't want to lose my island and I don't know too much about this stuff. I managed to get a server going and load up the skyblock that Bowser was nice enough to provide. There are a couple of things though.
1. You do not have access to any commands doing it this way. No /is or /spawn etc
2. You need to know your X/Y/Z coordinates to find your island because you start at the spawn.
3. your user info is gone. So whatever you were wearing, your levels and your inventory is all gone.
4. You will need a lot of space and a good connection. The file to download of Skyblock is pretty big.
Edit: As soon as you get in to your game... type /gamerule mobGriefing false (stops mobs breaking blocks)
then /gamerule doFireTick false (stops fire spread)
So lets begin...
1) download the .rar file that bowser provided on the Dwarfscraft homepage. In it will be 2 folders. Skyworld and Skyworld_nether
2) Go to Minecraft.net, sign in and download the minecraft server. (you can use whatever server you want, but I don't know how to setup bukkit etc, so I used this easiest one)
3) Put the minecraft server file in a folder. Because when you run it, it will create other files and you want to keep them all contained and neat. I just made a folder named skyblock and put it in.
4) Run the Minecraft server file. As you can see it creates a few files in the folder
5) Open the EULA file and change the eula=false to eula=true. Then save and close the file. (without setting this to true, you cannot run the server)
6) Run the minecraft server again. It will create more files in the folder, now that it has fully run. (not sure why my log and chat is blank. Glitch from what I understand)
7) Take the contents out of the skyblocknew.rar file that you downloaded from the link on the home page that Bowser provided us and put them in the folder. This may take a while to unpack as it is a lot of data
8 ) Open the server file that was created. Change the Level-name=world to level-name=Skyworld. (and I changed the MOTD to Skyblock)
9) Run the minecraft server again. In the chat window at the bottom type /op username. (for example /op zombiepaul73) this gives you the power to change the game mode when you log in. Since you start at /spawn, you need to get to your island. and remember Commands don't work. So you'll need to switch to creative and fly to your island.
10) Now that the server is up, you can run minecraft client and go to multiplayer. You should see the skyblock server in the list that you just set up. go into it. (pay no attention to those other servers. lol)
11) sorry I didn't get a picture of spawn. But you will be at /spawn when you get in. From there type /gamemode 1 to go into creative.

12) You will need to know the coordinates of your island to find it. Its a big world. Press F3 to see the X Y Z coordinates you are at. ( I was actually able to TP to my island by typing /tp then my coordinates. like /tp 1234 98 5678 as an example) or you can fly because you are in creative at the moment
*When you get to your island don't forget to change back to survival by typing /gamemode 0
That's it. hopefully this works for people because I wont be very good at helping you if it doesn't. If anyone has anything to input to help this, please do.
